Duolingo English Test Score Chart for Ethiopian Students
For Ethiopian students applying abroad, Duolingo English Test scores run from 10 to 160 in 5-point increments. This guide shows the current Duolingo CEFR alignment; always confirm the required score for your exact university program.

Choose your target score
Universities set their own DET minimums. Use the official admissions page for your exact undergraduate or master’s program, then aim above the minimum to give your application room for error.
How the DET subscores work
The current DET score report includes four individual subscores: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, alongside your overall score.
Most programs focus on the overall score, but some may also set requirements for an individual skill. Check the official program page before sending your result.
Do you need to retake the test?
You can take the DET twice every 30 days. Most students see a 10–20 point jump between attempts if they prep properly in between — cramming a retake in 3 days rarely helps.
If your score is within 5 points of your target university, it is often faster to prep for 3–4 weeks with a coach and re-sit, rather than gamble on a stretch program that expects a higher score.
